$1,700,000 Bugatti Veyron
This is by far
the most expensive street legal car available on the market today. It is the
fastest accelerating car reaching 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. It claims to be the
fastest car with a top speed of 253 mph+. However, the title for the fastest car
goes to the SSC Ultimate Aero which exceed 253 mph pushing this car to 2nd place
for the fastest car..
The Grand Sport can reach 406 km/h with the hardtop in place, the same top
speed as the coupé version. With no roof, the top speed is limited to 369 km/h,
and to 130 km/h with the temporary soft roof. The Grand Sport has extensive
reinforcement beyond the standard Veyron, including carbon fiber doors, hoops,
intake faces; carbon fibre enclosed transmission tunnel…
Bugatti now offers a convertible
version of the Veyron that costs more than $2 million. The Grand Sport hits 253
mph with its clear plastic top, the same speed as the coupe; the topless maximum
speed is a “mere” 224 mph. With the fabric “rain” top in place, 81 mph is the
suggested limit.
The car is built by Volkswagen AG subsidiary Bugatti Automobiles SAS
and is sold under the legendary Bugatti marque. It is named after racing driver
Pierre Veyron, who won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939 while racing for the
original Bugatti firm. The Veyron features a W16 engine—16 cylinders in 4 banks
of 4 cylinders.
This easily makes it the most powerful production road-car engine in
history..
